NYCB announced its 2016/2017 season with new works from company dancers, Lauren Lovette and Peter Walker. Both works will premier in NYCB’s fall gala on September 20. Soloist and choreographer-in-residence Justin Peck will premier three works, one with music by Igor Stravinsky. Peck will have a program consisting of his work. Another new work by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is slated for the Fall.
The Spring Season opens April 19 with a performance of Balanchine’s Jewels. The opening week consists of a Contemporary Choreographers program with Christopher Wheeldon’s Estancia (2010), Alexei Ratmansky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (2014), and Peck’s Everywhere We Go (2014). The final week of the Spring Season consists of seven performances of Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, May 24-29.
