I posted curtain call photos of Stella Abrera’s Juliet Met debut Thursday in Romeo and Juliet on my photography website notmydayjobphotography.com. It was a dramatic performance with Stella showing her dramatic range, from a young, playful, immature little girl who gasped in amazement when the nurse pointed out her developing physique to a heavy scene as she refused to marry Paris as her parents threatened to disown her. It is unfortunate that she was not given the Juliet opportunity many years ago. James Whiteside was energetic in his portrayal as Romeo, but not convincing. Arron Scott was Mercutio and Luis Ribagorda was Benvolio, dancing a well synchronized Pas de Trois with Whiteside in Act I.
Check for my review Sunday for this and the Saturday evening performance with Isabella Boylston and David Hallberg.
