David Hallberg will return to ABT for the Spring Met season according to The New York Times and the ABT website. David has been out of action for over two years due to an ankle injury and has spent the last year undergoing physical therapy with the Australian Ballet. He made a comeback in December, starring in the company’s Coppélia. From the Times: “I feel really great physically,” he said. “I feel I’ve been given a completely new education on how to approach my work, my physical instrument. I’m ready to step into the studio and start rehearsing.” David also remarked that he is very excited to work again with Alexei Ratmansky, ABT’s artist in residence who is creating a new work Whipped Cream for the spring season.
In ABTs Met schedule, there aren’t many open male slots, except for two Onegin performances. However, I’m sure Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie can find a few openings for David, particularly with Stella Abrera and Gillian Murphy.
