Sad day for me as one of my favorites, 38-year old Paloma Herrera announced her retirement at the end of the 2015 season. I couldn’t find any news in English, but here is a not so great translation from Spanish text: “I have nothing pending, I can not ask for more … completely full, happy with my career and grateful to life … is the best way to finish it.” I loved watching Paloma since she arrived at ABT. I remember her breakout performance in Theme and Variations in 1995 and her breathtaking dancing with Angel Corella in the late 1990s. She will be missed.

ABT Soloists Yurikio Kajiya and Jared Matthews will leave ABT at the end of the season to join Houston Ballet according to the ABT website. I enjoyed their dancing, particularly in Le Corsaire and Romeo and Juliet and will miss them both.
