I look forward to Stella Abrera’s Giselle tonight with Mariinsky’s Vladimir Shklyarov as Albrecht. It has been a long wait to see Stella in the lead role at ABT; she was originally scheduled to perform in 2008, but had with withdraw due to an injury. For some reason, she has not been scheduled to perform the role until Polina Semionova dropped out of the Met season due to injury. Stella has danced the lead role previously for The Australian Ballet in April and Ballet Philippines last year. I had an interview with Stella on her Philippines trip, which combined the performance with relief work to aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
