Also, big ABT casting news today. Alina Cojocaru and Herman Cornejo will not dance Swan Lake Friday but will be replaced by Hee Seo and Roberto Bolle. The pair will also dance Saturday evening in tough back-to-back performances. David Hallberg is out with an injury and not sure who will dance in the Saturday matinee; expect more cast changes. I hope that Sascha Radetsky will be able to perform his final ABT performance Thursday in Coppélia. He has also been out with an injury.
In still more ABT casting news, Misty Copeland announced on Twitter that she will dance the role of Odette/Odile in Swan Lake when ABT visits Brisbane, Australia (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) in August/September. I can’t say Misty would be my first choice to dance that role. She doesn’t strike me as a good turner and wonder how she will do in the treacherous Odile solos with the classic fouetté turn section. I hope to be proven wrong. I think Sarah Lane would be great in that role.
