The Bolshoi Ballet kept New York reviewers busy with its Lincoln Center visit. Below is a list of reviews I found. The general consensus is that the dancers are very good, but the versions performed were subpar. The New York Times’ dance critic Alistair Macaulay (first link below) was particularly critical of the Bolshoi repertory:
Artistic Director Sergei Filin “…can have no cause for pride in a repertory that reflects none of the policies he has introduced since becoming director. New York was given a non-Filin season; whoever was responsible for choosing the repertory (the Bolshoi or the Lincoln Center Festival), then shame on it for giving us fare that amounted to the company’s lowest common denominator.”
“What lies ahead for this whole company, so richly talented, yet now tumbling back into a pre-1989 nightmare?”
