American Ballet Theatre’s Harlequinade is a luscious treat, filled with vibrant sets and costumes. The ABT version is true to the original work as Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky staged the ballet based on his study of the notated choreography by Marius Petipa. Isabella Boylston and James Whiteside were wonderfully campy in the world premier Monday as two star-crossed lovers. Gillian Murphy was Pierrette, Duncan Lyle-the wealthy suitor, and Roman Zhurbin-Columbine’s father, with 33 children from the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. I posted a few photos on my photography website notmydayjobphotoraphy.com.
Look for my review Wednesday.
