Swan Lake Opens Fall NYCB Season

Above Photo: Sara Mearns and Tyler Angle, Allegro Brillante, January 19, 2017-Swan Lake opens New York City Ballet’s fall season Tuesday. NYCB will perform the work in 13 of the 28 performances in the season. Although I’m not a fan of Peter Martin’s work (see comments in my previous post) there are some compelling debuts that will make the run interesting. Megan Fairchild and Tiler Peck will have their NYCB debuts as Odette/Odile and Zachary Catazaro, Gonzalo Garcia, and Chase Finlay will debut as Prince Siegfried. For Zachary, his debut is long-awaited; he was scheduled to dance Prince Siegfried in 2015, but as he explained on Instagram, suffered a foot injury in dress rehearsal.
